Brewery History at One Eleven
 One
Eleven Main showcases the flavors of the Heartland and the rich history of the Midwest. The Lounge at One Eleven Main pays tribute to Galena’s brewing history by showcasing regionally brewed beers and sodas as well as brewery memorabilia and photographs as its décor.
It is well known that in the 1800s Galena was known for it lead mines and river trade. However, many do not realize that it was a thriving area for brewing beer. In 1857, a Galena Daily Courier article mentioned seven active breweries in the area. This concentration of breweries may have been related to the mass of people arriving daily on the huge steamboats or the abundance of miners working in the area -- many of them immigrants who considered beer a necessary part of their diet.
A visit to One Eleven Main is not complete without a stop at the 2nd floor Lounge where you can view historic black and white photography featuring Galena’s original breweries
and explore memorabilia from the area’s famous brewmasters, all while enjoying a cold glass of
ale or lager.
One Eleven Main offers a selection of regionally
